Might seem like a broad question. What turbo comes on a common rail commuter bus (with a Cummins motor of course)? Got a friend that works for the transit authority that said he could prob get me a turbo if I needed one. Just was curious if they were any good for performance?

same here the 12v bus engine i got had the same as a truck and even the 8.3 in our equipment has the same turbo as a truck engine.

nope not the same, he asked about a commonrail guys not mechanical, they have a he351ve, this is not like the ones found on the newer trucks, they are pretty hard to adapt, these units are water cooled and from what i can tell, they dont flow that much air, they have a pretty small downpipe, like a 3-3.5", and if you were to look inside the exit of the turbine housing, you would find this very restrictive ledge. i believe they use this for backpressure, and the egr flow. ask you buddy to take a pic, and see if they look like a hx35, or what i just described.
