Will the factory radios from 2nd gens fit in a 1st gen

I need to upgrade from a cassette to a cd and was wondering if any chrysler/jeep radios are a direct bolt in. TIA. Thanks Steve B.

yes they will i just put one in mad dads 1st gen out of a 96 jeep

is there a list of interchangeable radios? id like something that will at least play a tape correctly. i want to get into the early 80s with the rest of you guys!

Pretty much anything out of a jeep or dodge truck up until about 2001 is a safe bet.

If it has a flat face, it'll interchange. If the face bows out (think 3G p-u, and latter Dakotas), it wont. I've installed several $20 2ndGen CD players through the years.
