My 47RH Build

^a manual would be the best place to start. I would have saved myself a lot of trial and error if I had started that way, but lots of brains learn the hard way.

A clean surface, a press, some good hand tools, a few oring tools and a inch lb tq wrench will be all you need.

how would you describe the trans's performance compared to stock?

Compared to a stock trans? Converter seems much more "efficient". Not as much drop in RPM at lock up. Gears hit harder, doesn't blow through any. Lock up switch makes a world of difference on acceleration compared to a stock trans truck without one.
