One thing led to another. Build thread.

I have a complete 5.9 and a complete 6.7 spare (both need rebuilds), plus an extra head and extra crank, so I want to work on having a complete spare long block ready to go if needed.

Or I might be a hoarder. Not sure which.

Sounds more like a prepper to me. Lol

I'm looking at these two styles of tailgate spoilers. Anybody have an opinion or know of other options?

Flat plastic tonneau cover and the srt lip would look nice

Plastic? I've never considered using that material, but it isn't a bad idea at all. I was stuck on aluminum because carbon fiber was not really any lighter, but much more expensive. My concern with aluminum was that it would get dents from rocks from underneath. If i could find the right plastic, it might be light and dent resistant.

My buddy has a 2jz nissan PU and they used plastic and dzus fastners to attach it

It would be nice to get somethin with the color embedded in it. I'm thinking something like .060 or lighter.

See if you can find out what material they used. Thanks for the idea!

Im pretty sure it was just plexi or lexan, that they painted black. It was pretty thin. .062 or .090

I made it up to Dow Brother's shop for my normal tuesday-wednesday thrashing session on the truck. We played with Cory's new lathe, and faced the donor inner c so we could drive out the old axle tube.

The rest of the morning was spent on the phone trying to source parts to make a 5x5.5 bolt pattern work with brakes, hubs, rotors, wheels, backspacing, etc.

We moved on to mounting the hood, which took lots of cutting, grinding and fitting to make work. Grinding the grille shell to match the countour of the glass hood.

In this picture the hood is roughed in on the passenger side, but still needs lots of trimming on the driver's side.

You could use some second skin audio spectrum spray on sound deadener to spray the underside of the aluminum and it would prevent dents and not add to much weight plus you wouldn't have to listen to all the rattles from the aluminum.

Tell him to put some dam safety glasses on! Machine tools are nothing to dik with when it comes to safety.
