Truckers, lets see your rigs!

Washed the dust off for the truck pulls friday night. Been sitting in the same spot in the shed since last Nov.

All this talk about volvo's we just had to get one of our own to see what all the hype was about. Just showed up in the yard last week. D12D I think I will just leave it alone in the 220f loader and continue to build on this cummin's big cam.

Good friend of mine has an L10 Cummins in a Ford single axle dump truck (L9000). 90s model with 200k ish miles. It is stock as far as we know. It just started running rough. It will start right up and usually run good on the low side. Once I shift into the high side it seems to starve for fuel. It will be low on power and stumble. It has low power loaded or unloaded. Low enough that I am downshifting empty on hills when normally I wouldn't downshift (or only drop 1 gear) when loaded.

It acts like it is starving for fuel. What is the fuel pressure supposed to be going into the injection pump? Any common issues on this engine that causes this problem?

I haven't had a chance to work on it yet but would like to check the fuel pressure, filters, and fuel lines/tank pickup tube for starters.

Any help is appreciated! Thanks!

Anyone used rydlyme or nu-calgon for cleaning like/scale out of close loop systems? Stuff isn't exactly "cheap" at ~$20.00 a gallon.
Figured I'd ask before I spend the $$

It’s about time to bump the fuel up on this new truck, but I’m almost afraid to have anyone touch it. The lowest fuel mileage I’ve booked so far is like 4.6 all the way up to 5.0 lol

Damn you go through a lot of fuel. Bad steering wheel holder you are!

We used Rydlyme at the tech center to clean out the water side of the dynos. It's pretty nasty stuff but apparently it works.

That’s not bad mileage out of a mechanical cat pulling a reefer if you ask me. Not to mention the motor only has like 7k miles on it.

Maybe don't leave in running while putting the lizard rags to use!

This is why I don’t get the mechanical love.

Same or less mileage than I get, pulling 1/2 the weight with 2 less axles and 1/3 the HP.

My last 5 tanks were
4.43mpg 1501mi
4.45mpg 818mi
5.177mpg 1631mi
5.39mpg 2046mi
5.02mpg 1216mi

And to blow Allan’s mind the increase in mileage was when I went from 3.2” compressor wheel on manifold turbo to 3.5”.

Calm down... I still prefer electronic stuff. I don’t mind running mechanical motors at all.

I like this truck and I didn’t want one of our cookie cutter 389’s or the isx in the KW.

Not to mention this one gets the same or better mileage than the red truck, and I don’t have to babysit gauges or worry that it’s gonna grenade every second.
