North East Ohio Spring Diesel Dyno Day

Well, its offical...Im taking the week of easter off and as long as I dont have any unexpected trouble it will be on the road that week so hitting that dyno shouldnt be a problem.

:drive:

If I have some good progress made on the Ford, I might come up and hang out some, and maybe dyno my Dmax. I'm not gonna bother trying to bring the Ford up. If it wouldn't spool last time, it sure wont spool now......

supposely they are having the company who makes the dyno come out to the event. Thats what Josh told me. The owner of the dyno has been talking to the company about the problem..
Contact Josh at Grand Rock about this....Would love to see another Ford there. When I was there it was only 3 fords I think.

Ya I hope kevin figures out how to load big chargered trucks.
HOTRODTRACTER I would of loved to see your turbo actually spool. For some reason ford 7.3's have a difficult time spooling on that dyno. It has happen to a bunch of fords with larger chargers.

Yeh trust me mine is very slow spooling. They are to have a Mustang rep on hand. Not to sure it's all the dyno fault. I think if we try to ease into the throttle until you get to about 10lbs of boost then lay into may help.

They tried that with the HODROD's truck and he only mad something like 450 and you know as well as I do that truck is crazy strong a lot more than 450hp. I think they even tried to simulate a sled being hooked to the truck and tried slipping the cluch to build boost. No matter how hard or how light the were on the throttle same results came. Even different gears. Heck my little 64 had a fun time spooling.

When I was at the helm and layed down my massive 450hp number, I was on the brakes, up in the rpm band, and had 15psi of boost when we kicked the load on. I ended up making 20 psi I think..... Hind sight being what it is I wish I would have set a lower load on the dyno, and turned the load on at a slightly higher rpm. Doesn't matter anyway if I don't get the truck back together in time. But I think will still try an come up and throw down some numbers with the Dmax.

Man I wish that truck would of spooled that thing is nasty. I bet that is one of the stronger trucks that as been on that dyno. We all know that you got the fuel:hehe:
Chris

I should be there along with some other buddies and their CR and VP trucks. Hopefully I'll be close to done by then...:pop:

Is there an official Grand Rock/TI Dyno Day schedule for 2008? I know there were several days last year. I'm trying to decide whether I should make a trip home for that weekend or wait until a later event.

There's one in June and Oct. I believe. I have the dates at work. I'm sure Josh will chime in.

Why would you say that? Just cause it took so long for the smoke to clear out of the shop? I mean it was only 5 minutes before you could see one garage door opening from the other......:st::st:

GEEZ...no phones for 2 days, and this thread lights up...figures... Ok, let's see if I can remember everyones questions. No there will not be a "Grand Rock" sponsored race at Thompson. We are division 5 sponsor of NHRDA this year, and will be trying to make it to all 7 events they have planned. One of them being at Thompson! Also TI Dyno will have 3 dyno days this year...the upcomming one in April, The one with the NHRDA on June 29th, and lastly October 18 will be our second annual Rocktober fest! As for Mustang Dyno showing up at one or all of the events, Kevin (TIdyno) had spoken to the Marketing manager a couple weeks ago, supposably that guy was going to help get a tech or someone out to look at the dyno while Kevin is trying to spool these big ol turbo'd truck. So fingers crossed they'll actually show some customer service and make an appearance. Once Kevin told them he was in Diesel World Magazine 3 times last year, and looking at a 3pete this year, the marketing manager was all over that kind of exposer....:hehe:....if I forgot anything, or anyones questions...just ask me again....LOL :bang

Just thought I would check with everyone who is attending how are there projects going and are you going to be ready? I hit a Mile stone today

Chris

Waiting on parts for both trucks here..... HIGHLY doubt the the Ford is going to make it, just too many loose ends to tie up to my liking. But the Dmax could be an intersting addition to the show if I can get everything on and tuned in.

sWEET I woud like to see someone break 700hp on that dyno and top out the tq I think the highest that dyno has seen is 583 or so with a VP truck
