Alright guys and gals. I kept the motor out of it though thinking I was going to put it in the 2002 1500 I bought a couple weeks ago. After thinking on it a little more and the truck being a '3rd gen' I've decided on swapping a Common Rail in it.

It will mainly be a daily driver, eventually run down the drag strip( after the 9" gets swapped in). end HP goal is 850-900 single turbo fuel only EFI. (for dyno event). I know I wont be able to use it on the street.

I'm going to buy a donor truck for the swap so I'll have the wiring and everything I need for the engine and possibly for the trans. (everything I can find is 4x4).

What combo would you go with?
6.7 w/68rfe?
6.7 w/48re?
6.7 w/4r100?
5.9 w/48re?
5.9 w?4r100?
See any issues with a 6.7 at that power level for 10-15 times in it life?
What all is needed for the trans swap to a 48re or 4r100?

6.7 will spin a big single easily, and a full billet 48re will hold 850-900rwhp with no problem. Whatever you decide to go with, that kind of power in a 2wd street truck will be a BLAST!!

I'd say 6.7 and 48. But I'm a dodge guy.

That's my vote to, my dad has one with a 12v and a 48re and it's a blast to drive and it's only 550-600hp

6.7 48.... But tons of pics is a must which ever you decide.

Sorry guys no 12v in this conversion. Don't get me wrong I'm a mechanical guy all day. But I like doing "different" things. And from what I've seen not many CR swaps are happening in a 1500. Especially a 6.7.

I've talked to a few ppl about my plans and they dont see any reason not to run the 6.7 even at 900hp "just keep the torque out of it, unless you put billet rods in it"

So looks like a 6.7 it is. Now onto the trans.

so far 2 votes for 4r

and 2 votes for 48re.

From what I've found a built 4r can be had a little cheaper than a built 48re. But the will 4r100 will need a new adapter plate. Will a 48re need a new one also?

what is the cost difference for a built 4r? I'd say 48 if the 4r isn't a whole lot cheaper.

What I'd like to see is a 6.7 with an Allison. That way you could keep the 6th gear for a little highway cruisin.

I've got a buddy that's trying to talk me into doing that.
I would just build a 68rfe for the 6th gear.
