99 FL60 mutt/conversion/repower project build

Frame wire wheeled and primered for now...Got some digging done on the cab... Think I'll use the labmetal to fix this.. pull alot of fiberglass and Bondo out of it...

Frame wire wheel primered

Diff pulled I don't think there should be that much shavings on the magnets.. and obviously was ran low on oil..

Were there some sort of spacers between the IH crossmember brackets and the top lip of the frame? Not exactly a good fit in that picture.

There's channel that forms a box to the frame with multiple hole patterns the the front Engine saddle is bolted too..
FL60 came with at least 4 different Engine options.. 5.9/8.3/3116/3126 seen 3176/3208 in them as well though not very common and reasons would say front saddle for each is different..

The cooling stack and hood where spaced up ~3/4" to accommodate the dt466
I'll get a better picture once Engine it out later today.. just got back from seeing stuff to up chain capacity on my hoist I know the 8609 is close to 900lbs and the dt466 is between 1500-2000lbs didn't feel comfortable with 2600lb rated chain and hooks

I could be wrong, but I think whoever swapped in the DT, used the crossmember out of the IH truck as well...it looks identical to mine. The channel that the crossmember bolts to, that fits inside the frame rails is what looks like a poor fitment...probably also from the donor truck?

Yes, plan is to use crossmember out of the donor truck

Edit
Just looked at the saddle and frame mount on the donor (70) while the 8.3 has two mounts in the 6 o'clock position vs the dt466 has them in the~ 4/6-5/7position the saddle has holes drilled for 4/6-5/7 position..on the fl70..
I don't have a picture of the 3100 seies front mount.. iirc they are 4/6- 5/7 position too..

Report came back in diff.. couple of bearings, went bad, so all new bearings seals, found out 3.07 ratio Doesn't exist for the rs15-120.. tallest/fastest is 3.31:1...which will raise cruise RPM from 1550 to 1750@70 in top gear... Not what I wanted...but still better than 2100@70..
Should have diff back sometime next week

Been hunting turbo info...
Still looking at s364sx-e with either 76/68 turbine or 80/74 turbine.. both can be had with .83 T4 waste gated housing.

I could be wrong.. 80/74 wheel should run cooler than the 76/68wheel and possibly more responsive part throttle

I know alot of guys run the 76/68 wheel on the 5.9/6.7.. I see it choking the 8.3
Haven't found and flow charts for said turbine housings/wheels

The 68 wheel is what we use on a 300hp 513CID engine in our tractors. It is a mean sounding SOB through a straight pipe too.

I wouldn't think it would choke with a wastegated housing at all though.

I would try one, but I would also doubt that the big wheel with those cubes would cause any concerns either. The 68 wheel on a 5.9L engine makes a big difference to me in how they spool and drive.

Assuming you went from what ever a hx35 was to a 300 with a 68 wheel.. guessing driveability improved?

Probably start small and go bigger if needed..
I would thing I could move a used s364.5sxe with a .83 T4 gated housing fairly easily

No idea. Doesn't really matter what model it is, my brother wants to make a jet for some reason haha
