Budget 6.70 drag truck build!!

Wow,
Awesome build, your build pace is inspiring!!! I guess I don't get on CompD often enough to catch the cool builds.

Let me know if you need anything, we like to help out where and when we can on these grass roots racer projects with discounted pricing. So if you need a discounted AFC foot or an Air Filter to keep that new turbo healthy, feel free to send a message or call the shop.

Thank you. Your junker build is kind of what inspired me to go this route. And will do!

Got the cam installed Wednesday. And all I can say is wow. So much more responsive. I can light the 88 to 10lbs on fuel in about 7-8 seconds and driving it comes on so much quicker. Truck also starts normal now which is a plus. My clearances are really close ext was .053 and intakes were .064 before lash. I set lash to .015 and .026 for alittle extra breathing room. Hopefully I’ll be fine there. Has had two 4500 rpm pulls and everything is fine so far. Going testing tonight. Will update how it goes. Just hope I can make the truck hold boost staging.

Also, intercooling is a big part of increasing the air density, I honestly think of it as a second stage of compression, much like compound turbos. While the weight savings is quite tempting, there's a reason most/all of the fast promod cars/trucks still run "heavy" charge air coolers.

Intercooler is back on the truck also. Will more then likely go to water air over this winter

I've ran the Junker as tight at 040" on the exhaust valves and it didn't hurt the engine, but it did have valve marks on all of the pistons. With high RPM and high EGT from nitrous, you will probably touch a piston or two eventually, but probably not enough to damage anything, just knock a little carbon off the top of the piston.... :ft:

That’s good to know. I try not to turn much past 4500.

Truck was running good last night. Got to the track late and only got to make one pass. Gonna have to figure out something to hold the wheels trying to stage. Right now I can’t build over 10lbs without the truck trying to do a burnout. Ended up leaving on as much as I could and it took a second to start pulling hard. But the truck is making more power by far it spun all the way through 3rd gear which has never been a problem before. However around 330 it finally settled took off and the extra load I blew a boot off still went 7.72@77 with a slow 2.1 60ft before on a 7.70 run I’d be somewhere around 95mph with 1.6 60fts. Happy with the 88

Man this truck has gone a long way since last time I read it. Keep going!

Just alittle update. Have decided to go to a compound setup on the truck to make things alittle more consistent hopefully. Picked up a 464 new for a steal. Then been noticing I’ve had fuel pressure issues for awhile now. Truck would loose fuel pressure even just staging, had trouble trying to watch it down track. The few times I looked at it seemed to be bottomed out. I plan to go to a gear driven setup sometime very soon. But for now I picked up another airdog used for 200$ and gonna run dual pumps. I’ve been buying turbos when I catch good deals so don’t mind the others

hopefully that fixes your fuel issue! If you happen to have a decent s475 you find go ahead and send it my way :)

If you still have fuel pressure issues after the dual used electric pump setup, we have a pretty killer mechanical pump "predator lift pump" that legitimately flows anything you'll need/want pressure wise and volume wise. 100 psi is no problem and the biggest model will happily feed a billet Sigma if you ever chose to go crazy big on the injection pump setup.

I intend to go to a mechanical style pump in the future. But getting close to the holidays picked up the airdog for alitte but if nothing so I went ahead and got it. I’ll probably sell them sometime in the spring and go to a mechanical setup.

Got the chargers mocked up last night. Will be getting started on piping once it arrives.
