Well the wife is doing great for her first year racing, she made it onto the team for the Div 6 finals. It has been a cool year with a lot of people that have not seen a diesel truck in the brackets asking about the truck. Have gotten a few people out to the track to run their diesels and have some fun, hopefully they get hooked.

Post a picture of the truck. Nice run. I'd personally rather hear turbo whistle than music but nice kill either way.

Thanks guys it has been a real learning experience, I think it is a good start for her. We will be running two trucks next year.

Well we got down to the NHRA Div 6 finals in Woodburn Or. and first run of the day broke something in either the transfer case or front differential. The truck launched and then you can hear something break, the truck spun the rears for a hundred feet or so and almost went into the wall. It makes noise in four wheel drive and when switched out pretty much goes away, we were able to make the 6 hour drive home. I am thinking it is the front differential because it will drive when not in 4x4

Curious as to when you shift the truck into 4wd? In the staging lanes or at the starting line? Anyway, congrats on making it as far as you did.

At the starting line, are you thinking it was not fully engaged?

So do you guys go around the water box or through it? The 4x4 was binding up real bad when going around the water box so we were switching into 4x4 at the line.

Probably broke the collar. You wont know until you tear it apart.

As for the waterbox, I drive around it. Water on your street tires at the line is a cardinal sin.

4x4 does bind some going around the box (depending on how tight the turns are at that track), but you just have to deal with it.
Its the same at the pulling track.

Ok thanks, I think I am going to get a used one and install it and then I can take my time rebuilding the broken one. With my luck it is totally chewed up inside from driving it home anyway:banghead:

I have always drove around the water box and had been in 4whi in the staging lanes. If its really tight shift to 4hi right after your tightest spot in the lanes. You want to know the sheet is engauged before you do a 1300ftpd's of torque launch!! sorry for the spelling. Im fcked up

Figure out exactly what it is first. You could have hurt the Tcase, too...although its less likely.

Shiot happens when racing. You live and learn and come back another day. Good luck in the future. :)

Well I hope not, I did jack up the front and engaged the 4x4 with the engine off and the Tcase locks the front drive line. The front wheels will spin and the front differential makes all kinds of noises you really don't want to hear. So I figure I will get the used front differential installed and see where I am at.

Front diff drain plug:bang Gear oil was grey and sparkly.
