How come performance shops will not return calls???

If you're verbal tone is anything like the textual tone I'm reading, and they caught wind of it, they might be wondering, that if it's so easy, why you don't hang up the phone already, hope to it and stop wasting their time.

x2!!!

If the tone of the text in this thread is anything like how you have been treating the potential vendors it is no wonder you haven't gotten any response. I wouldn't call you back either.

Doesn't MPI do BB twins for the Cummins or are they just Schwitzer/BW based chargers?

After seeing your last post though, guess it doesn't matter. :D Looks like you've been helped and the pot is now free. LOL

I HAVE SIZED THE TURBOS!!! I WANT 66 AND 96! I CANNOT BUY GARRETT WITHOUT GOING THROUGH A DEALER! I CALL THE DEALER AND TELL THEM WHAT I WANT AND TO GIVE ME A PRICE! HOW MUCH EASIER IS THAT? CALL OR LOOK IN A PRICE SHEET AND JUST TELL ME! NO REASON IT SHOULD TAKE 3 WEEKS TO DO THAT SHOULD IT?

I am not a expert in sizing them, just telling what I want. I am paying for the turbos so price them accordingly! People call me all the time at work price shopping between us and Home Depot and Lowes! I give them our price and keep going. Most of the time we are the same price and they come here because I gave them the info they wanted when they wanted it! Its ok though...After this post I talked with who I needed to and everything is back on schedule!.....So i guess I will just wipe and get up!

Tell ya what.....

You post the MODEL NUMBERS you want prices on.... and I will get you some G'damn prices. Good ones no less. If we're talking Garrett chargers that is.

"66" and "96" won't cut it though. Need something more along the lines of "GT5533R" with accompanying A/R and flange pattern if applicable. With that info on both chargers I can have you a price within minutes of reading the post. And I'm just some guy that buys a turbo every now and then.

I didn't get a call...

Glad you got it figured out; let us know how it works out

What made you decide to go with a journal bearing 64/71/14 instead of a GT4094 ball bearing?

I have been calling several diesel performance shops trying to get pricing on a set of ball bearing twins. I started about a month ago calling and leaving messages for "the person you need to talk to!" It seems no one know how to size turbos or wants to deal with sizing them or something. How hard can it be to call the turbo manufacturer and tell them whats going on and let their techs come up with the correct products??? Then just call me back and give me a price and all!!! Surely with the economy the way it is these places are not slammed with customers so bad they do not want any more business!

Not sure if I am allowed to do this here...but I want others to know how these shops have treated me! Here are a few of them:

Elite Diesel, Diesel Specialists, Wicked Diesel, Turbonetics Inc, Enterprise Engine, Engineered Diesel (ED), Haisley Machine, River City Turbo, and Industrial Injection!!!

I am at the point right now in my conversion where I need my turbos, head studs, and a few other items. Maybe someone will call me back after they read this!!!

If you called me and I never returned the call I apologize. Their is a Wicked Diesel, then their is us Wicked Diesels. I personally have only bad experiences with one BB turbo company. I only use the BW journal bearing stuff, even now I am still learning as new stuff from BW, is coming up all the time.

I had the same trouble when I was asking around for ball bearing turbos. I was asking for someone to size me the turbos and I was specifically requesting Garretts. Out of the six companies I called, only one person returned my calls, Tom at turbo resource and now I have a garrett.

Tom was great to me. Now I have two Garrett BB's in the garage, and reccomend talking to him when I hear someone looking at a BB turbo.

That's a far cry from a BB 66 and 96, I was looking forward to those results! Why the change? Just curious.

The main reason for this decision is that I spoke with 2 people that have the setup similar to this on their 6.7. Also Dan and Schieds has a 6.7 with a little smaller setup and he did 9xx hp on the dyno with it. The original BB sizes were just what the techs at Garrett said I should run according to their charts, but nothing real world! They could not tell me how it would spool. Also Rip at Source Automotive is running this setup on his 6.7!

Don't feel bad, I'm still waiting on return call/s from last month.......I gave up and moved on, sad for them.

well i got those twins and they spool ok however the 6.7 would flow a lil more air than the 5.9 and personally i would not go with another gated turbo i am going to a straight cut housin this winter and just push what it will make:rockwoot:

Not even an external gate?

I do find it neat tho that UnBroken's truck idles just c-hair under 1psi. bounces over every now and then... no gates there.

However, doesn't that limit your ability to tune for spool up and over all power?

That is how my 12 valve was. Hell I could make 150# of boost if the boots would hold up! But tuning it and just overall life of the engine I think would be better with a gate. I did think about using a non gated housing and an Tial gate...but just makes for more plumbing issues in an already cramped engine bay!

So why do you say the spool was "ok" ???
