its easy - just cut up any reese hitch, n add some bracing - hell I even kept the reese stickers intact lol

doesnt have to in our associtaion - I just did it that way cuz I thought it was fun, and funny, and it was a 3" hook I had from the real reese hitch from last year, and without havin to fab another one

Here's mine...

Guys confirm this or how do u read when it says Hitch must b parallel to the ground. Is it the hitch it self that mounts to the frame or the (clevis ) and or hooking point as pictured above ??? thx

Most places would say that the receiver that mounts to the frame must be parallel to the ground. Also, most places would say that the clevis in the picture is in the same plane as the ground, just a little different angle than the ground. Just my two cents. Good luck.

Who could confirm because I've been wondering this also. What needs to be defined is: What exactly is the hitch? Must all parts of the hitch be parallel & which direction? Side to side and/or front to back

Sorry..I have not checked this thread in a while and did not notice you asked me a question..

Had a guy on the forum build it for me. He did a very nice job and I am very happy with it. Good price also.

Well from my understanding a receiver (hitch) as we term it or use is a 2 part piece u have yr hitch that takes a 2" reciever like 99% of them do ,,so ????

in the rule: Factory or commercially distributed aftermarket Reese type hitch. Must be horizontal to the ground and stationary in all directions. Hitch must be no less than 46” from center line of rear axle to the back of the inside of hook point. Height from ground must not exceed 26”. Minimum 3 ½-inch diameter for sled hook.
+Hook point must be past rear of truck bed.

Hitch \Hitch\, n.

1. A catch; anything that holds, as a hook; an impediment; an obstacle; an entanglement.

2. The act of catching, as on a hook, etc.

Straight from the Reese site:

A Towing System may include the following items:

Hitch: The mechanism that is typically mounted to the rear of a vehicle under the bumper.

Ball Mount: The item that is inserted into the Hitch for towing.

Hitch Ball: The item that is fastened to the Ball Mount, which the trailer connects too.

Hitch Accessory: Accessories that fit the Hitch or secure the Ball Mount to the Hitch.

My opinion, from here on out...If the truck has reese hitch, meaning the receiver (bolts under the truck) and the clevis/mount attaches to the hitch in some form of fashion without any other attachments to the truck, it is legal. Hard to explaing, but the clevis/mount should only attach to the truck with a single pin or bolt.
