my ladder bars

could someone enlighten me on this it just not sparking in my brain why you would need one so long.

longer bars = less lift at the point of attachment on the frame because of the leverage of the longer bar. In a drag racing application, this may not be what you would want. It works for sled pulling.

Everyone has their own idea about it, the best thing you could do is google it and decide for yourself.
 
fwiw, a longer, non-shackle equipped traction bar will have less bind on the motion of the suspension, due to the arc length (suspension travel)vs. radius (bar length) being smaller
