Rebirth of Monster Mudder

7.3? Did you used to have a 7.3 mud truck?

And when are we going to see a 'test boost launch' video to see this thing in action?

lol, no. never had a 7.3. It's a long story on the number but needless to say, my wife and I were married on 7/3 I used 73 the first year, but that was also my football number in high school and made the mistake of saying so. So I dropped a decimal in there so it's fully the wedding date and made the wife happy with that. It's all about the happiness of the wife.

ha ha that's a good reason. Totally worth little things like that to keep them happy when you're in the garage for a week at a time!

I can hear the crowd now... "Must be a 7.3, says so on the truck. Best damn running 7.3 I've ever seen!"

All kidding aside. Happy wife = Happy life

thanks...

They announce the engine when I run... I still get all kinds of questions on whether or not it's a 7.3 diesel.... or what chips I have on it.... I just show them this picture:

My wife is the best. She let me build a shop that dwarfs our house and spend more on it than I did the house. That's not to say the house is shabby or small, it's a 2600 sq ft house with 5 bedrooms and 4 baths and 2 living rooms. I just got a really good deal on it when I bought it. She doesn't ***** about the money I spend on the race truck either. And actually encourages me to spend more money on it when I'm being cheap.

You, Sir, Have a winner! :Cheer:

Ha, mine let me build the engine, transmission, etc.. to build the mud truck while we were planning the wedding and trying to buy a house. Told me to spend my bonus on the truck.

Today, didn't get a lot done. I bent the upper and lower halves of the loop for the center driveshaft. I need to bend the larger one just a hair more to get it lined up with the other one. Tomorrow I will figure out how I'm going to attach it to the transmission cross member. Will probably just drill two holes and make a plat that goes between the transmission mount and the cross member.

I also picked up a PTO cable at the local napa and started getting it installed. I have it figured out, just need to weld part of the clamp to the existing bracket and then get the cable cut off and go from there.

Also had the kids clay bar the truck and do a little polishing on it.

My shut off solenoid died so I tore the boot off, cleaned it, and it magically started working again. Almost 300k on that. If you feel like trying that?

Mine had 350k miles on it before I turned it into a race truck. I'm not going to take a chance on it working or not with it killing the truck in the middle of the run. Just not worth it. I can have it manually fixed and not have to worry about it again.

Yeah, that makes sense. Especially if it's only a race truck. I'd get sick of that in my daily/weekend truck.

tonight I worked on the 3rd driveshaft loop and have the support braces in place and should get it finished tomorrow.

I did finish up the manual fuel shutoff cable and tested it tonight.

Finished up the 3rd driveshaft loop this evening and tested the truck.

Bolted on the front lower grill.

Still haven't replaced the tach sensor, couldn't find one in Tulsa Weds. Will get one ordered from Summit and get it replaced. Not a huge deal. I don't look at it really when I'm racing, it's just nice to have when I'm looking at the incab video of the gauges and seeing how the truck performed. I shift mostly by feel while going through the pit.

Windows were cleaned by the kids tonight as well and we dug all the crap we take to the races out of their various hiding spots they were stored in over the winter so they are ready to load up Sat. morning.

Only thing I have left to do is take it into the tire shop in the morning and have the front drivers side tire unmounted and the mud/bead cleaned out of it so it will hold air longer than a day or two.

Wow that thing scoots!!! What a ride! Well done for first tine out on the new combo!!

On that pit, it still sounds like you could definitely run a taller gear.

There's plenty of power and torque, just gotta put it to the ground!!!

Nice runs!
