Hood Stack

just coming back to check in and see if any updates and looks like you have the go ahead, if you need a beta tester let me know stockturbo 96 12 valve is what it would be going on if not let me know when they are ready

Thanks for the offer to beta test for us! We've been getting alot of offers like that...LOL Right now I'm still waiting on the mounting plates to be machined...as soon as I get those back, it's on to making the stack...

A friend of mine is wondering if she can get a Hood Stack in Pink!! It seems to be her colour I guest!

Um...what?.....LOL

I guess if you could find someone to coat it in a pink finish that would be ok...but it would probably end up burning off...

Im still voleteering my truck as a guinea pig.

I think most would like a 12" to the top of the miter in a 6" made from stainless.

Id like a 7" myself to test if I had a choice.

See I told ya I'm getting alot of offers for beta testing...LOL

I'm getting alot of feed back like that. Seems 12-15 inch seems to be what most people are "thinking" would look good. I don't think they will be stainless, but chrome plated, and working on getting them ceramic coated on the inside to keep that nice chome shine. Right now we're starting with 6", but will probably end up with a 5" set up, and 7" set up...:D

i would want a 5" stack out my hood. and by the way how are you going to clear the A/C lines there by the turbo?

Remember this is just a 3pc mounting set up. You will be responsible for plumping to the stack. We can supply the elbows needed, but you'll still need to map it out your self!

i remember that bigbaddodge "1" hood stack came out top notch. probally one of the slickest ive ever seen. might want to contact him for suggestions.

also is anodizing an option for the allum ring? that would help guard against pitting and such.

I have spoke with him about a hood stack. He has offered to share any info he can to help with this! Thanks for lookin' out though!

As for anodizing, I was told that it would not hold up to the amount of heat coming from that stack. Right now, we're looking at building the mounting plates out of stainless steel...

Thanks for all the input everyone...keep them coming along with questions. I want to make sure that every issue will get touched on, to make sure there will be no issues later...know what I mean?

PROTO TYPE Rev.1 IN HAND

Well I have the first revision of the mounting plates in hand. These are just proto types, and not the material we will be using for finished product. This will give you an idea of what it will look like. Please feel free to leave any comments at all.

Bottom Mount Plate...there are already a few changes we will be making to this, but you get the idea.

Top Mount Plate...this is what everyone will see. Naturally we will make this a very eye pleasing piece.

Here they are side by side.

Here we have a sample flare sitting in the bottom mount. It's a nice fit, but we are wanting more of a lip. So a few minor changes are to be made here.

As you can see in this picture, we need to machine a few more thousands off of the Top Plate, so it will slide all the way down. The process of flaring made a slight egg shape. We are also looking at resizing the stack after the flare has been made.

So that's where we are at now. The next step is getting the body shop down the road here to cut us out a 12 X 12 piece of hood so we can add that into the fabricating process.

I also found out that the LONGEST piece of steel we can flare is 14". So the hood stacks we offer will not be any longer than that. We will probably offer a 14", and a 12" length.

As always PLEASE keep your comments and suggestions coming. This product is for you, so we want your feedback!

Looking good so far...I really like the clamping idea!

How do you think you'll match the curve of the hoods??

Chris

Thanks.

The curve of the hood will be the next thing to consider. My question is, out of all the trucks, which one has the largest curve to it? I'm thinkin' the gen. 2 dodges are probably the biggest ones..yes?

I think the 2nd gens would be the worst. With flanges that thick the hood on any of these trucks work warp like hell when they are tightened. How are you gonna make the stacks level?

Don't forget the hoods structure underneath.

Yep, good point...not sure if the smoothest flattest part of the hood would be the ideal spot for the stack.

I'm currently looking around the scrap yards to find a Gen.2 hood that doesn't cost an arm an a leg for. Just so we can use that as well for fabricating.

The ideal thing for us to do, is try and make it universal with ALL the hoods. Now how much of that is reality I'm not sure.

If I knew where my exhaust needed to go through the hood, I'd bring you one to try out. But I'm a little ways from that yet!

i thought i saw a couple hoods for sale in the "dodge products" for sale section...believe they were 2nd gen hoods too

are you going to scrap the passenger side battery?

Our idea is to build a set up like in my pictures. Fabricating and plumbing the exhaust to the universal hood stack would be on the individual.

Hey thanks! I'll look into that!

do you make a compensation in the cut of the pipe to match the downward fall of the hood angle?

I have a hood in great shape $200 and can meet you around Toledo or a little further.

Beta twins kit :poke: I need to get the tools to take out my AC sometime:doh:
