Truckers, lets see your rigs!

Which one will make you want to drive it and make the most money with. That's the one to buy. IMO.

I vote kay whopper

I think Rick knows which truck I'd vote for, knowing the history & "having pride in you're ride" & "lookin fine in my 379" or even 389, LOL. However the KW is cool in it's own right and I can certainly understand not wanting to throw out a whole pile of cash. Rick, will you be leasing onto somebody, or buying your own trailer as well?

I'll be pulling loads for the guy who owns the red truck now. If I buy his truck, I'll be pulling his trailer as well.
If I buy the kw, i'll possibly buy my own trailer as well.
Ive driven the puck out of a PEEC truck. As typical PEEC fashion, the cruise never ever worked. However it never left me stranded or really caused any problems. We even did the 460hp chip and reset everything and picked up a noticeable bump in power.

I'm not worried about not liking the KW. I love the looks those truck have and have a huge obsession with the aero1 trucks. However, with how I like things, I know I'll have to "build" on the truck.
There is a lot less to be done on the red truck however.
Only thing I know I don't like on KW's as I've not spent much time in them, is the wiring in the dash. I've spent all my time in Peterbilts.

Also... as some have probably gathered, I'm gonna be pulling a hopper. It's kinda all I know and it's where the loads are I have dialed in right now.
I'm always up for trying something new, I just have a super hard time trusting people and I need solid stuff starting out more than ever.

Getting closer to putting mine on the road. Needs paint amongst a few other things.

I really like the look on that KW. The Peterbilt looks nice, but there is a big difference on price.

The deal with the Pete is I used to pilot that truck everyday. Me and that thing have made some rounds together. Therefore I know it, I know it's history, etc.

And that is also very good to know the history and performance of the truck.

That's why I'm even considering it. Figured I should catch you up as your new lol

However, a truck kinda local to the house just came up for sale and I love the specs, so I may be pretty interested in it. Already talked to him on the phone this morning. Gonna go look at it Sunday when I get back in.

Even though the Pete is where you like it. It maybe fun to take the KW and build that into what you want. May take some time and money but any of that kind of stuff you wont need to finance. Get making some money and change things here and there as your wallet allows. I think its much more exciting and keeps you interested in your truck to buy something that you see potential in and slowly chip away at it. It makes me love to drive my truck that much more.

Owing the whole operation is a big deal. You're never tied to anyone. Just my $.02.

Case in point, when I bought my FL it was in rough shape. Grill was destroyed, paint was faded badly, no aluminum was polished, mufflers and muffler guards were hammered, needed a radiator, exhaust manifold, manifold gaskets, among many other little odds and ends. Fast forward 3 years to last weekend and someone says, "That's a 1986. That's 31 years old and looks like it came off the show room floor." With original paint and all of the man hours and elbow grease, comments like that make me love the truck. I love driving it regardless, pulls are just an excuse to get it out.

Good luck man. Big decisions. But what ever you decide owning your own, IMHO, will be the best decision you make.

Now it's far from show room condition and far from perfect. But I am proud as hell with as far as it has come. I have an eye for seeing the potential in things and bringing that potential to light.... I think you have the same eye, Rick.

That's what I meant lol. I just wanted to bring to light why I was considering buying something like that.

Yea I wanna build my own but I had a pretty good part in building the red one over the years so it kinda feels like one of my step kids lol.

Unfortunately I'm more interested in this little 48" truck instead of the kw. And it's local to home. Price is bigger but I'd really like to be in an electronic engine truck and the fact it's a Pete. I just know more about them than I do Kenworths.

Something else to think about, the kw keeps you completely out of the e log bs.

Nice. I think that would work great for what you need, and if you decide to do something different as well.

Nice truck. I was going to ask you about this truck on the video. I had not seen it. Just the old kenworth you built.

I'm worried about that stuff but I'm not going bat chit crazy like everyone else. The way I see it, everyone will have some form of it anyhow if it gets passed. I'm really hoping that representative from Texas gets his bill passed through and from the sounds of it, small companies may be exempt in the long run.

At what cost does it break even or make profit with these old trucks? I'm paying more than they are worth, I'll get worse fuel mileage, finding someone who truly knows how to work and tune on them is few and far between. I foresee insurance companies raping guys with exempt trucks, let alone the scale houses.
Not to mention you can't make the power in a mechanical truck like you can an electronic one without baby sitting gauges etc.
I don't think a lot of these guys with "exempt" trucks are weighing all the options here.

Depends on what you're doing I guess, with what I do I haven't noticed more than a 3/10 difference in mileage from a stock bc3 to a "tuned" 2ws with almost everything else in between. Late 90's trucks have gone crazy in the last year because they kind of bridge the gap.

I'm sure there'll be "fixes" for the e log, and realistically you'd be noticed far less if you're running one.
