Truckers, lets see your rigs!

Can you get autoinflation systems on steers?

Reason I ask is I woke up to my neighbors air dryer going off every 15 seconds. A short while later he pulls up about 30 feet and backs up 10. Air dryer still going off every 15 seconds and not quiet either. Start waking up and here is his steer tire off the wheel flat on the ground, and his aluminum wheel touching ground.

What kind of idiot doesn't investigate an air leak like that before moving? My guess he has an auto inflation system so he figures he never has to check his tires.

Not that I’m aware of and most air dryers are junk especially the newer ones. An old AD9 would actually dry the air but you had to rebuild it every year. The new crap doesn’t even dry and not worth rebuilding.

He probably has a big leak in the signal lines then. Here's a pic. If you look close you can see he scraped the ground pretty good. My guess he needs a new wheel at the least.

I've had issues with knockoff air dryers. And you're right just replace the whole damn thing. I buy them from dealerships only. Every time I've bought one from a non dealership it's been useless and likely a knockoff.

Does anyone have real world experience with putting a unibilt opening on a modular kenworth sleeper? A buddy was all geared up to do it, read about it online. Kc Pete won't sell him the parts. Their body shop said every kw that had had that done the cab cracked in half.

Wouldn’t that be more fun to do under the cab of one of the new junkers?
I'm 6'4" @ 425. If it's not a 379 or W900 it pisses me off to some degree or another.

Doing anything under the valve cover of an 8600i makes me want to do unmentionable acts of violence.

So, I trained on this a few years back, and this is the first I've gotten to touch. The 2015+ German engines have a 5/8" tall "carbon scraping" ring. It's supposed to stimulate the top ring of the piston group, reducing upper cylinder wear.

Really?? I'm getting ready to do my 92 w9. There are a lot of unibilt 359s running around without issues...not sure why a kw would be that different?

If you order an ISX overhaul kit they switched to them also. They call it an “Anti-polish” ring and requires a special ring compressor to install the pistons. It’s a crutch to try to prevent what damage EGR is doing. These are the Cummins liners that are made in China so you know they’re the highest quality. Think the Paccar has them to.

Bald Eagle Services in Goshen IN did buddies 359 and they do KW’s too. Never heard of cab issues but I don’t know if they add any bracing that maybe the dealer didn’t do.

Remember your talking to a dealer and most have OEM blinders on. If it didn’t come from the factory that way they are usually clueless. Can’t get a wiper blade without a VIN number.

Get really irritated with the MD Intertrashional junk. Idiots designed the truck AND the engine and made it so you can’t remove the valve cover on that Maxxforce DT boat anchor without taking 1/2 the truck apart.

I still laugh at their propaganda when the maxforce garbage came out. They touted it as "just the engine" in their ads and showed just an engine block. No DEF needed! Then you open the hood on one and you can't even see the engine. I should've kept those magazine ads.

What about something like This?

100 inch wide. Custom Studio Sleepers

He can make 90 or 100 inches wide and any length.

Rocking ram what brand of moose killer is that on the front of your dads fld?

On the unibilt, I'll pass those places onto him. I bet they've got some good ideas, maybe be able to sell us the parts. I really want to prove Pete wrong now, even though I've always respected thier body shop. I keep thinking putting the cab and sleeper on two aluminum frame rails, and tieing it into a link air ride behind the bunk.

Update on the isx. Hit Cummins dyno last night and had trouble scratching 500hp with diesel spec delete and power tune. 38psi max. Doing his first load today into 45 Kmh wind was 29 psi and 1000 on the pyro. Seems high to me. Dads not happy with the tune.
