2012 NHRDA Season opener at Speedworld Dragstrip

Any updates on how the event went? Time? Hell I will take anything at this point.

I watched the ustream during qualifying. Sportsman had a good turnout. Super diesel looked decent. Maybe 5 in ss and 3 in ps I think.

Verlin won Sportsman and Super Diesel
Rob won Super Street
H&S won Pro Street vs Rob who had some issue?
Pro Stock was won I believe by attrition Dirty Max was the last to break
John made a single pass in TD sounded like he was fighting problems also.

Weather was great, crowd was really good stands were full, lots of folks in the sponsors booth area. Sportsman had 40+ trucks, Super diesel had about 20 lots of fast trucks that could run the number. Super Street and Prostreet were thin and all had issues, Aarons new Pro stock truck has lost of problems being first time on the track, but a beautiful truck and will be a runner when they get the bugs worked out. Dirty Max new setup looked great but had a weld fail in the intake. Verlon won Sportman and Super Diesel, I raced him in the second round and basically beat myself. First round my truck badly defueled on the 2-3 shift and slowed to a 12.2 pass. I had a bad light but way better then the guy I raced so had 3/10's to play with and beat him easily. I turned it up against Verlon and treed him pretty good and was way out in front and figured I would break out but like a dump ass got off the throttle a little too much and got a little under the chargers and he drove around me and I couldn't quite catch him and he beat me by .05 sec.

New tranny in Max'd Out had some issues, never really had a decent pass, nothing in the 9's. line pressure dropped way off and the converter locked up so in the finals in SS the young guy he was racing, Jeremiah's son in Misery, red lite giving Rob the win setting on the line. PS winner had tranny issues as well but won with an 11.7. Rob rolled and smoked off the line and ran a 16.XX at 131 MPH.

This is the up there with Edmonton as being a great diesel only drag race. Had some 200 mile an hour roadsters to make passes which were great to watch, also to jet cars that looks like freight trains that put on a great show and ran 230mph+. Burn out contest paid $1000 and although I don't know who won it.

It was great to see everyone, some new trucks that will be awesome when the bugs get worked out. John Roberson's funny car as well, it had some issues too.

thanks to Randy and all NHRDA crew. Mikaela did a great job with the interviews for Diesel TV, will be interesting to see how they all come out.

There were a lot of good races in the 11.90 class....I was surprised it how many trucks were running 11.9X.

You forgot to mention the thousands of people running around with awesome sunburns at the end I the day! I'm still trying to recover from mine. Doh!

Big shout out to NHRDA! Randy and the gang put on a hell of a show and I am so honored to be apart of it! Yesterday's race went smooth and was well organized and the new additions Randy made seem to be a good fit. Thanks to all the racers who put up with me sticking a mic in their face! You guys made it virtually painless and we only had a couple blunders! Can't wait to see everyone in Texas! Safe travels to all.

Great event for NHRDA. It worked very smooth, no down time at all. Very good truck and spectator turn out. The 11.90 class was awesome. Super street had 8 trucks I believe, seems the 11.90 class is a very good fill in for mid level trucks.

Congrats to Verlon (VSouth) winning sportsman and Super diesel. He pulled his trailer from Idaho with his race entry, then hot lapped running an unbelievable amout of rounds, changing from a sportsman tree to a pro tree every pass. Awesome racer.

Max'd out was turned down to help break in the new engine. I had converter issues right from the start, so I just babied it to make round wins. Made i into the finals of SS and PS, but knew it would not last as the converter was trying to lock on the line. I had to stage by putting the truck in neutral and bumping it in and then back to neutral waiting for the green. Besides the converter, everything felt/looked good and should be back in form for the Texas race next month.

Congrats to the whole NHRDA crew, very smooth and professinal. They have bought on Big Don and JJ (NHRA) that really bring a new level to the diesel side of drag racing with there vast knowledge and experience.

I was wondering what planet I was on seeing you have problems.....on a side note, that was one heck of a race between you and Zane! 10.1 vs 10.1 wasn't it?

No one got videos?

Most of us haven't even left phoenix yet, so there is no surprise no one has posted. Randy commandeered a lot of the footage for diesel tv. It airs April 26th at 5pm on fox sports net. We got a lot of great interviews, tech tips from sponsors and footage of the racing! Be sure to tune it!

Still bummed that I missed it! I had it playing on my laptop while working on the race truck though! Had to miss most of eliminations though as I headed to a big practice tree race at that time, and could not get a good cell signal where it was. Incidentally I managed to win the pro tree class, despite the field consisting entirely of people who had been track, divisional or national champions. That wasn't a requirement to enter, but it seemed that only the "hitters" entered!

Now the real question is whether any of the interviewees got caught staring at Mikaela's boobs on camera ;)

And if you want to see the aftermath of the burnout contest, the smoked tires with belts showing, but, it still didn't blow......
