Water Gun fight...

I think us diesel guys will argue about anything. :hehe: :hehe:

My personal observations:

I've never seen straight water add power (or anything worth calling a gain) but have seen it stabilize intake air temps. Meaning, the truck will run more pulls on the dyno before yeilding to higher intake temps. I have seen people lie about using meth to make the water appear to add power too.

I have seen meth add small doses of power.

I have seen 100hp or so with propane and as little as 20 or so.

I have seen as high as ~ 600hp gain with nitrous.

Most engines running water systems injecting like we are talking about do not run intercoolers. In my mind, this is their way of intercooling. So if water is a power adder in this case, so should a intercooler be considered one.

When I came into this industry, the general opinion of those I learned from was diesel only or drugs. Water was not a drug, meth was. Propane was, and or course N2O was too.

Diesels can run without turbo's so I guess all motor technically would be a NA diesel.

Does any of this matter really? Like Timmay said, 3 trucks in the nines and 4 if you include Garmon's 2003 pass. Fill the bottles, fill the water tanks, fill the fuel tanks, just come to the tracks and fill the staging lanes.:rockwoot:

Nicely Put....

David, we tried to explain this to DP but maybe he'll believe you, maybe not.......

dont you worrie about my knowledge of water, just worrie about my knowledge in general, remember bowling green?:hehe:

:hehe:

Wade,

You took a 1000 lb. lighter truck, with the latest CR plug-n-play technology and made a pass that was only 3 tenths faster than my dinosaur had gone before.............I wouldn't exactly call that Brain Surgery:hehe:

Last I read, they have been able to teach monkies how to plug connectors together:what: LOL

what?.........i weigh in at 7400, and all i had in my truck was a piece of **** smarty that hardy let my truck start, let alone put down a real ET, and a TS MP8.

and the point is that "only" three tenths is alot.

you ran your mouth and got :eek:wned: point blank!

If you would run water injection that would have been 6 tenths, according to your math!

That's funny!!:hehe: I know 3 people with identical trucks and all 3 of them weighed 6800 on CAT Scales WITH back seats in them!!:rules:

EXACTLY!!!!!!!!!!

It takes a Degree from MIT to plug in a couple boxes!!:what: :eek:wned:

Paul, will that knock down the rust in the intake and lubricate the pump? I've never heard of using that before.

i can promise you this, had the smarty not ruined my ecm i would have ran a 11.10-10.90 but because of that piece of junk im still fighting problems. i have a new ecm on order, then we will see who knows what.........

oh yea and your way off on my truck's weight-----Wana bet on it? i can proove what it weigh's in at, and it's well over what you think.

damn if water adds that much power i am goign to start bottling some up. at the facility where i work we use over 1000gpm, "thats high quality H2O". its like viagra for our trucks!!

LOL

My next truck if Water adds that much power...

I wonder if they'll read the owners manual to you at the dealership Phil..:hehe:

Now that they are using "urea?" to control emissions on diesels, and since water injection is around, perhaps soon it will give a new meaning to the term P-Pump?

No, I add it to the fuel. I just didn't want to be accused of saying all motor without everyone knowing the facts... :bang

Paul

Uh, oh! We gots a cheater on our hands! LOL

I kinda thought thats what you meant, but ya never know with this crowd.

Doggone it....Now I'm going to have to buy a water sniffer for my tech guys at the local pull..:ugh:

so all of this fuss over my oppionion on why adding water is a power adder?

so you are telling me that water is not a power adder?

by adding cylinder psi which equals TQ or hp?
by lowering the EGT's thus making the truck able to use more fuel?

your stupid if you think it's not.

Added cylinder pressure does not always mean more power.

now for the record, my post were not to discredit the 9 second truck, but was a replie to someones post about an "all motor" truck. tell me what that truck would do without water? 10.20 maybe..............or would it make it down the quarter without water?
:hehe:

Water adds cylinder pressure before TDC. You know when that piston thingy is going up. That does not necessarily make power. Heck it can cost power. Increasing cylinder pressure after TDC. (When that piston thingy is going down) is when power out put is increased. *bdh*

I wondered why there was a guy walking around the trucks with a devining rod...
