Let's see your pullin hitches!!!

Anyone Scratch build a reciever for their 2nd gen dodge. I'm in the process and would like to see some pics.

Yeah, Iv been thinkn the same. It needs to work like a full blowen pullin hitch but look like a stock reciever hitch! Id like some idea's also...

Heres some pics of the hitch I built for my first gen

Looks like you would want a lot pulling down on the adjusting part of the hitch... just like a pry bar. If it was pulling strait...it wouldnt put as much down force on the back of the truck witch in turn puts more down force on the back tires!

If your pulling just right in front of the rear axle, you are putting down force down on the rear axle, but more importantly you are not trying to lift the front, and if you start to lift the front your lowering the rear, which in turn drops hitch height, etc, etc. I had to think about the minimal downforce on the bolt for a second. They didn't say minimal downforce on the rearend, just on that bolt.

I don't, It sits at 26 inches with 1700 hangin on the front, I also made some blocks that allow 1" of rear suspension travel

I will be building an adjustable hitch in the near future

Wow 1700 on the front!

That's wright, but down force on that bolt transfers force to the rearend... not all of it,but a lot of it. The farther you mount the hitch forward of the rear axle the more ya load the front end. The rules iv delt with wont let ya mount the hitch no farther forward then the center of the rear axle!

Yea that hitch would not be legal, as you said most say can't be forward of the center of the rear axle.

I guess the best way to hold it up there would be 2 or 4 jacks holding it up to the frame and mark the holes then?

No just use some of the existing hole, slide a bolt through them and see what lines up and what doesn't

Yeah... that'll work. Just measure it all out and make sure it's square! Weld it in if ya don't want to drill any holes in the frame...kinda sucks drilln in a frame!

Thought I had posted on here. Guess not. Heres a couple. Got all kinds of pic of it. This should due though. It adjusts up and down as well as in and out.
