Anyone here involved with UNOH's pulling truck?

idk about a specialist and maybe it is a pipe dream but it would cost more money and time to go back to a smaller class i personally would love to see it make a pass but that not my call

So if I'm reading this right a group or club at a techinical college decide to build a pulling truck. Instead of starting out small they decided to jump to a 3.0 class. Now they are almost a year into building, make 400hp, and no test past but keep buying parts to change stuff? Im guessing these are the same guys that when they graduate go to our local dealerships as "diesel Specialist"?

Dealership diesel techs are the worst! If it isnt by the book it cant be done. When i use to go into the dealerships when i was running the snap on truck guys would look at me stupid when i told them what we were doing with the 5.9 cummins. I even got into an arguement when a guy called me a liar when i told him i turned mine close to 6k. Had to break out the video and he still wouldnt believe me. Said they wouldnt turn/live over 3000. He went to one of these "technical" colleges, graduated and know the lead diesel tech at a local dealership:bang

lmao yup. a kid i knew graduated wyotech this yr, not even a week out of school he argued with me about the proper way to seat cr injectors and crossovers....i said fine isnt my $$$. an hour later he had promptly destroyed all 6 (new, fat style). guess where he works? fyda freightliner...*bdh*

no your right to an extent its guys not workin on chit mostly the same guys sayin how smart they are they wanna do things their way wether that way is right or wrong or they have no time to put in any wrench time anybody tht was around when i was there will tell you it was always the same guys doin all the work and most of us have graduated but we didnt get a load of school money either there has been fund raisers and alot of foot work to get where it is and its gettin alittle further all the time

I think UNOH needs to step up there English classes.

Why would it cost more money and time to go back to a smaller class? i.e workstock? You already have the turbo for it on there. Still running pretty much a stock driveline? Even though it is P-pumped it is still retaining a factory pump and not anything like a Sigma or an Ag pump or governor. I went to UNOH for 6 months Sept 09 to Mar 10 and at that point the club was a joke. I know who was club president at the time ( a member that has posted in this thread) and to be honest, I don't think he knows his a-hole from a hole in the ground.

Good luck on building it. I would like to see it make a pass eventually, but I am just not very confident it will be any time soon.

Yeah its crazy going in there and seeing what they were doing. When my motor blew up and I took it to dealer ship they pulled head with injectors still in and laid it face down on the concrete floor sitting on the tips. Back on topic it seems like the group needs to get their head out of the clouds and ask people that really know. So they are gonna run stock driveline in a 3.0 class?

I saw this truck at the Preble county smoke out, looked neat untill i looked under the hood.......Our diesel club at penn tech has a 1957 B model mack with a mack e-tech EUP engine in it and a allison behind it:nail:, ill post pics up

Feltcher your just mad the club booted you out of your position and wont have you back. I have talked to club members and I will be making a trip after the first of the year to see Ashley and Roth hope i see ya around....

Now the reason the club is using parts on the truck that are not up to par for the class they are building the truck for is because thats what they have to work with. So on another note anyone that would be willing to give pointers or help get "up to par" parts pm me and i will pass the word on. Any help will be appreciated.

Your best help was already given by many members here, go to a lower hp class where your parts will "fit".

I see Fletcher is still a douche, you're well known manLOL

Im not quite sure why they won't as far as details go i'll have to converse with Ashley about this if your reading this buddy chime in anytime.

I highly doubt anybody will step in at this point with such a cluster **** of a truck and no positive direction to go with it. Unless they need toloose some money by the end of the year but i could think of a thousand better things people could do with their money and parts, ie. give it someone that will acctually see the track in our lifetime. As for advice. Get a leader with balls and a vision and listen to them till its done, but as said before that doesnt sound like its going to happen either.

UNOH Diesel Club Pulling Truck

I saw it in diesel world magazine a couple of times and was wondering if anyone had more information on it or maybe some pictures of it. I went to school there from 2005-2007, they didnt have that when i was there. I think its cool they re building a diesel pulling truck.

I'm currently in the club right now and were doing some more mag. shots so we can get parts for the engine once we have those done we need to get an adapter plat for the trans to mount an NP205 T-case then we need to get our drive line angels and have driveshafts made. so right know its just a matter of get the funds for the parts or having things donated to use were hoping to have it ready to pull sometime this year

Not trying to be a dick here, but you should go back and read this WHOLE thread. And take the advice given. Especially regarding the transfer case.:badidea: You'll save maoney in the long run, hell short term too. ANyone knowledgable will not holep if you don't take advice from experts and continue to stirve to use inferior equipment.

your using an np205 transfer case??
that might be ok if you stay at the power level your at now.

i hava offereed to bring my timing set up in to play with timing and see what makes best power but the president wont let me play with the timing. says 26 is what we will ahve the pump repinned at.

i dont remember anyone telling you that 26 is what were going to run you were told that if you wanted to bring in the timing gear that was adjustable to do it just that we werent spending the money to buy one cause we have more important things to buy.

guys i want to see that truck make a pass just as bad as anyone of you guys but you have to play the politics just as much as anything else the school but little to no money in to the clubs unless it interests them and they dont feel there is a marketing ploy for them to pull with the diesel performance market. i hate having to pull the engine for mag. shoots to but its free parts over 15,000 dollars in parts just from the mag shoots im not going to complain. now if we werent getting anything for doing all this then yeah i would complain cause i love to watch pulls and i know that the truck isnt where it should be but we can only do with what we have not what we dont yes a drop box would be awesome if we had the 10 or 15K to get one it would be great to have 5.13 gears, hell it would be nice to have any number of parts that would make the truck a top contender in pulls but we just dont have the funding. the instructors do what they can with what they are givin if they turn **** down its because it would cost the club more money to make that change then it would help us in making a competing truck. ill be happy to see this truck go down the track and make her first pass but as far as you guy hurting the club by telling people $hit that isnt what is really going on or some of you just being pissed because your not in the club anymore and we wouldnt let you in the door if you wanted back need to stop as far as those of you in the club if you dont likehow things have to be done dont come to the meeting nobdy told you when you came to the school that to stay in the school you had to stay in the diesel club you want to be in something thats better funded join the race teams or the rat rod club if their that greatly funded. hell dont be in a club at all if you dont like the way things are its your chocie to be there nobody elses

were using the 205 because thats what we have if we could run a drop box and the 271 we would but we dont have the funding for it

ive read through enough that what some people have said pissed me off i agree that we should run better equipment but we can afford to run it we can only work with what we have or can afford to but if people want to donate those parts they advice using i urge them to do so im sure as long as it wouldnt hurt us or our obligation to some companies because they donated parts they would gladly take the help.

Wasn't something said about English classes? I guess those courses are not important.

I see you guys listen as well as you type coherant english which is nearly as bad as you spend free money.

I'd love to see where $15k went!!! Becuse you deffinatle don't have that in the motor, unless you guys are retarded (your english skills eluded to this). And you could get a lot of the driveline done with $15k...not over the top stuff, but deffinatel something that will hold for a season.

No offense, but you guys really seem to be way off track. Pun intended.
